Palm Avenue Master Plan Project

Improving IB through walkability and safe, connected streets

The City of Imperial Beach is beginning to plan the Palm Avenue Master Plan project, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the safety, accessibility and vibrancy along Palm Avenue between Georgia Street and Rainbow Drive. This project will transform the corridor by providing lighting, landscaping. art and improving conditions for walking, biking, driving and public transit along this section of Palm Avenue. The intent of the project is to create a more welcoming and dynamic access route for residents businesses and visitors.

The City is in the early stages of designing the project and is currently developing preliminary plans (i.e. 30% plans) and environmental documentation. This effort includes communicating with property owners, businesses and other key stakeholders adjacent to the Palm Avenue Master Plan project area to discuss any questions or topics of interest related to the project. Design is expected to be completed in 2027, with construction to be scheduled at a later date.
